The application Somebody by Miranda July is a messaging service for when you find it very hard to say something to someone face to face. If a person wants to break up with their partner but does not want to witness the heartbreak, they can select someone that is nearby to deliver the message face to face.

It seems to be a view into a surreal, almost dystopian future. It can be seen as an observation on contemporary behaviour in relationships. It is relevant to my project in that aspect. Approaching the topic in a way that is comical but strangely familiar to our daily lives is inspiring.
Decoding Dictatorial Statues is a project in which Ted Hyunhak Yoon observes public statues and tries to unravel the meaning of its visual language.

Images of dictatorial statues are compared to each other to illicit meaning from them. It is relevant to my project in regard of comparing gestures and by doing that figuring out meaning. I also really enjoy the design.
By making a work which only contains the year numbers 998.031 BC until 1969 On Kawara shows us the (in)significance of time. A human life is lived on the fifth of a page. On Kawara would read out the numbers as a way of performance.

It is relevant to my work in the way that it collects a certain data and by showing this data conveys meaning. I enjoy its simplicity and the way it was performed, being almost banale but making the numbers important by putting them on a stage of sorts.
A dictionary of italian words that have a different meaning when read backwards, one word with a meaning on one side and one on the other.

Especially the format of this project is inspiring to me. It is perfect to serve its goal. To literally show the two sides of a word. This is similar to the way I would like to visualise meeting and coming together in a book.
This is a guide of gestures that were intended to contribute the evolution of humanity by re-channeling internal energies. These gestures were taught by Johannes Itten at Bauhaus.

For me it is not necessarily the content that is inspirational, but more the format. It is similar to some pages of Shy Radicals by Hamja Ahsan. The illustrations serve as a guide to use the body a certain way or to decipher the posture of a posture in a way that is straightforward.
